I know the 5600x is ezpz to cool, but I want something I can throw on another system in the future that isn't the size of a small space ship I'm looking to spend less than $100 on a cpu fan. I saw a youtube video that saw that the ID-COOLING SE-224-XT Black CPU Cooler performs close to the Nocuta U12A ( I reeaaaallly dislike the brown/tan config), but it seems specific to the 5600x. I am not really interested in AIO and want something better than the standard basic throw on of the HYPER EVO.

I am currently lost on how to cool the CPU.

Operating System: Microsoft Windows 7 Professional SP1 OEM 64-bit.Power Supply: EVGA G1+ 750 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply ($99.44 Amazon).Case: Lian Li Lancool II Mesh ATX Mid Tower Case ($109.99 B&H).Storage: Crucial P2 1 TB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive (Purchased For $76.00).Storage: Crucial MX500 1 TB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($95.56 Adorama).Memory: G.Skill Trident Z Neo 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3600 CL16 Memory ($129.99 Newegg).Motherboard: MSI MAG X570 TOMAHAWK WIFI ATX AM4 Motherboard (Purchased For $219.00).CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X 3.7 GHz 6-Core Processor (Purchased For $289.00).This means I don't need to worry about the thermal pad shrinking over time and forming a gap in between the heatsink and my M.2 NVMe SSD.I am looking to build a new system (this is only my second build) and so far I've decided on this build. The temps so far are the same, but I figured if I could add an additional fan inside my case to expedite cooling then I can drop the temps furthermore.Īt the very least though, it does not leak grease, unlike the default one from the Tomahawk motherboard. I'm now using a copper block heatsink with rubber band wraps which do a good fit on my NVMe SSD (19-20mm wide). So I washed my hands thoroughly after handling it. If it gets to your eyes, you need to have it surgically removed from your eye. I have read somewhere that these grease may actually be hazardous to your eyes. I asked on another forum and they advised me to change the heatsink if the grease continued to leak.I actually tested it for 2 weeks.Ģnd Week (just today) - Grease still visibleĬleaned it with cotton swabs, didn't put anymore alcohol on it. I have used the standard heatsink with a samsung 970 evo. Even the bottom M.2 slot is narrow, I tried to fit a 21mm heatsink but it wouldn't fit because it would collide with the plastic covers of the headers on the bottom.Īre you able to use custom heatsinks with this motherboard? If so any suggestions? This is because the GPU lock is so wide and close to the M.2 slot that anything past 20mm is not going to fit.

I find that the clearance for using custom NVMe M.2 Heatsinks is so narrow that you're only limited to 20mm heatsinks. *The problem with this is that over time as it keeps on leaking, the thermal pad also shrinks and it will eventually leave a gap where it no longer makes in contact with your actual NVMe M.2 SSD Heatsink, reducing cooling. Just want to ask to anyone that's using this motherboard (MSI X570 MAG Tomahawk)Īre you guys using the default M.2 NVMe heatsink above the GPU slot? What are your temps with it?Īlso ever notice that the default M.2 NVMe heatsink of this motherboard leaks grease on its thermal pads?
